Since emigrating from Bangladesh to New York City, 14-year-old Nadira and her family dream of becoming lawful residents, but after 9/11, they face heightened suspicion and adversity. When her father is detained at the U.S.-Canadian border, Nadira must navigate the challenges of keeping her family united while dealing with the changing perceptions around them.
