Beauty in a Box

Beauty in a Box is a transnational, feminist exploration of Canada's Black beauty culture, examining the influence of media, retail, and consumers across various Canadian cities. Through analysis of advertisements, media articles, and local Black community media, the book traces how Black beauty products transitioned from niche markets to mainstream retail spaces. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, it offers a comprehensive understanding of the politics and history behind Black hair and beauty culture in both Canada and the United States.
