Involved in a failed coup and actively sabotaging military plans, he skillfully navigated a perilous double life while providing critical intelligence to keep Spain neutral. As suspicions grew within the Nazi hierarchy, particularly from SS chief Heinrich Himmler, Canaris ultimately faced dire consequences, leading to his execution just weeks before the war's conclusion.
