The Chindits

During World War II, Allied resistance in Asia involved behind-the-lines operations where small teams used guerrilla tactics to disrupt Japanese supply lines and create intimidation. British officer Orde Wingate pioneered the formation of the "Chindits," a specialized force of trained soldiers tasked with conducting long-range offensive missions through difficult jungle terrain in Burma. These campaigns aimed to weaken Japanese forces and exemplified innovative irregular warfare in some of the most challenging environments of the war.
