Rebecca Cordeaux, a talented actress and aspiring writer, joins a university research team to study the potential risks of a robotic economy, despite her mother's fears and her own reservations. As she delves into her father's past and encounters a conspiracy theorist named Liam, Rebecca uncovers secrets surrounding her father's untimely death and a mysterious underground organization called The Renegades. With her companion bot Madeline and the help of Liam, she begins to explore the true nature of technological progress and the hidden forces behind it, all while navigating her own path toward the future.
