A Life Unfolds in the City

Set in New York City in 1906, this story follows Martha and Lilah Caldon, two sisters whose lives are profoundly affected by their mother's passing. As Martha pursues her dreams of joining the Women’s Movement and deepens her relationship with the actress Miss Sahara, she also begins to explore new romantic possibilities and confronts questions about her family's past. The narrative weaves themes of personal growth, social change, and evolving relationships against the vibrant backdrop of early 20th-century theater and society.
