Warriors for the Working Day

Set in May 1944, "Warriors for the Working Day" follows young tank commander Michael Brook as he navigates the challenges of war, including overcoming personal fears and managing a fluctuating crew, during the Allied invasion of north-west Europe. Drawing from Peter Elstob's own wartime experiences, the book vividly captures the intensity, heat, and chaos of tank combat, portraying both civilian encounters and fierce enemy resistance. The new edition includes a contextual introduction from the Imperial War Museums that offers additional insights into the true events inspiring the novel.
