The Chimes

"The Chimes" by Charles Dickens explores themes of social morality through the story of Trotty, a humble ticket-porter, as he faces societal tensions and personal reflections on morality and class. On New Year's Eve, Trotty's worldview is challenged by visiting characters who evoke feelings of insecurity and societal critique. The novella delicately examines social issues with Dickens' characteristic moral messaging, all set against a backdrop of personal and communal hope.
