The Pavilion of Frozen Women

Set during the Hokkaido Snow Festival, "The Pavilion of Frozen Women" explores the mystery surrounding a snow sculpture of three goddesses created by an indigenous artist. The story follows an American Lakota woman in Japan, investigating the artist's possible connection to a serial killer and her own ancestral past as part of the Bear People. The work has received nominations for the World Fantasy Award and inspired a collection of the same name.
