The Bird Catcher

Set in a scenic Thai village just after World War II, S.P. Somtow’s novella explores the complex relationship between a serial killer and a lonely American boy, offering a reimagining of Thailand’s most infamous serial murderer. Originally conceived as a film, this acclaimed work is now nearing realization, accompanied by the short story "Chui Chai," which delves into contemporary Bangkok's hidden worlds. Both stories highlight Somtow's talent for blending haunting characters with vivid settings.
