After her bakery is destroyed, Maura escapes from Beitar to the shores of the Vaporiad Sea, ignoring local warnings about dangerous sirens. When she accidentally falls into the frigid waters, she is rescued by Anatolius, a siren prince who feels out of place in his role. To protect her from the other sirens, he claims Maura is his betrothed, and the two must navigate the complexities of siren court to ensure her safety and find a way back home.
