When Brad, a soldier, is deployed to dangerous locations, his family faces the challenges of frequent moves and the anxiety of separation, especially as communications become scarce. Moving back to Brad’s hometown provides Jamie and her children with a supportive community, but when Brad’s messages abruptly stop, Jamie’s concern deepens. As Brad finally reaches out again, changes in him threaten to alter their lives forever, and with support from new friends, she seeks hope for their future.
