The Lost World

"The Lost World," a 1912 novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, follows an adventurous expedition to a remote plateau in the Amazon basin where prehistoric creatures, including dinosaurs, still exist. Originally serialized in Strand Magazine and illustrated by Harry Rountree, the story introduces the character of Professor Challenger and depicts a conflict between indigenous peoples and a savage tribe of apelike beings.
