Forlorn Hope

In the spring of 1812, with the British army under Sir Arthur Wellesley focused on advancing into Spain after defeating the French in Portugal, they face a critical challenge: the formidable fortress of Badajoz, commanded by the seasoned Baron Armand Philippon. With an impending threat from Marshal Soult’s approaching army, Wellington must launch an immediate assault to avoid being trapped. Lieutenant James Webster, grieving the loss of his wife, takes the lead in the attack, supported by Sergeant Thomas Davis, who yearns for a heroic end. Together, they prepare to breach the fortress and instigate a pivotal confrontation in the ongoing war.
