Hollywood director Steve McNaught travels to a small Scottish town seeking solace, where his arrival sparks curiosity and suspicion among the locals. As he grapples with personal struggles and attempts to immerse himself in the community, tension and attraction develop with a local midwife, George. When Steve's plans take a unexpected turn, he returns home but eventually reappears, changed and with a new perspective.
