Theatre of Marvels

Set in Victorian London, Theatre of Marvels follows Zillah, a determined young Black actress who rises to fame as “The Great Amazonia,” a role that requires her to hide her true identity. An orphan from the slums of St. Giles, she secures a stage position with producer Marcus Stratton, but her ascent brings unexpected challenges, including the secretive disappearance of another actress. As Zillah navigates the complexities of ambition and identity, she faces a pivotal choice between pursuing her dreams and remaining true to herself, all while entangled in the dangers of a brutal racial history.
