A Princess of Mars

In Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic science-fiction fantasy novel, A Princess of Mars, former Civil War soldier John Carter is mysteriously transported to the harsh landscape of Mars, known as Barsoom, where he discovers a world inhabited by various alien races, including the fierce Tharks and the noble Red Martians.
