The Leavenworth Case

Anna Katharine Green, often celebrated as the mother of the detective novel, introduces readers to her first mystery, "The Leavenworth Case," published in 1878. The story follows the experienced New York detective Ebenezer Gryce as he investigates the murder of a wealthy philanthropist, with potential heirs and relatives emerging as persons of interest. Set against the backdrop of a suspenseful quest for justice, the novel remains a landmark in early detective fiction.
