Everett Cline, a weary homesteader, is reluctant to trust love again after being jilted by three mail-order brides. However, when a neighbor unexpectedly brings Julia Lockwood—a determined woman seeking independence from her past in Massachusetts—into his life, both are faced with their reservations about marriage.
