Three-Fifths

Set in Pittsburgh in 1995, this story follows 22-year-old Bobby Saraceno, a man who has been passing as white and hiding his true biracial identity, raised by a bigoted grandfather. His world is upended when he witnesses a violent act by his friend Aaron, a returned ex-con who has embraced racist beliefs, leading Bobby to grapple with secrets that threaten to expose him. The arrival of Bobby’s long-absent father further complicates his life, forcing him to navigate complex issues of race, identity, and loyalty.
