Canoeing with the Cree

In 1930, two young paddlers, Eric Sevareid and Walter C. Port, embarked on an adventurous summer journey from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay in a secondhand canoe, navigating over 2,250 miles of challenging waterways without modern technology. Facing rapids, difficult portages, and scarce resources, they endured nearly four months of wilderness adventure. Their remarkable expedition culminated at York Factory just before the onset of winter freeze-up.
