The Poison Belt

Professor Challenger summons his friends to his country house, each bringing a cylinder of oxygen, as he becomes convinced that Earth is entering a deadly poison belt of ether. Together, they await an uncertain fate in a sealed room, with the sound of escaping oxygen marking the passage of time. This volume also features two additional stories starring Professor Challenger, "When the World Screamed" and "The Disintegration Machine."
