Meanwhile, newly promoted DS Penny Chandler links two reported rapes in her former jurisdiction to Bliss’s case, prompting her to collaborate on the investigation. As both inquiries hit roadblocks, an ex-policeman's information about similar unsolved cases in the USA leads Bliss to California, where he must uncover a past motive to catch a killer whose actions may have far-reaching implications.
