Ashes to Ashes

Master Hugh, along with his family, participates in a Midsummer’s Eve celebration, but the festivities are interrupted when he is summoned by the church to investigate burned bones discovered by tenants. As he delves into the mystery, he learns that several men have gone missing from Bampton and surrounding villages, with the remains belonging to an unpopular bailiff. Initially suspected to have been murdered by disgruntled tenants, Master Hugh uncovers a more complex motive behind the crime, revealing deeper layers to the mystery.
