Millie Longfellow, an optimistic orphan-turned-nanny, is determined to prove herself despite repeated setbacks, while Everett Mulberry, now guardian to three challenging children, seeks competent childcare for the summer. When an employment agency offers them one last chance to work together, their relationship begins to develop amidst their own personal pursuits—Millie growing fond of her charges and Everett striving for upper-class status. As they navigate their new roles, they also uncover troubling circumstances surrounding the children's past, leading to questions about love, loyalty, and belonging.
