The Nutmeg Tree

Julia Packett, who has had limited contact with her daughter Susan since World War I, travels to France for the summer with the intent of persuading her grandmother to allow Susan to marry. While staying at a vacation villa, Julia observes her daughter's romantic interests and becomes entangled in a series of romantic and humorous escapades, assisted by the arrival of Susan's legal guardian, Sir William Waring. The story explores themes of love, social expectations, and the surprises life can bring when seeking happiness.
