The Poetry of Mirabai

Mirabai, a Rajput princess born in 1498 in Rajasthan, became one of the most influential saints and poets of the Bhakti tradition, known for her unwavering devotion to Krishna. Despite a life marked by personal tragedy and social persecution, she expressed her love through the composition of around 1300 devotional songs that celebrated her faith with simple language and emotional depth. Her journey included fleeing her in-laws' persecution and spending her final years as a pilgrim in Dwarka, where she is believed to have merged with Krishna in 1556.
