Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, known as Mary Shelley, was born in London in 1797 and raised by her father after her mother's early death. Despite limited formal schooling, she enjoyed a broad education and later became famous for her literary talents, including the creation of the iconic novel "Frankenstein." Her life was marked by personal hardships, including loss and tragedy, as well as her dedication to her radical political beliefs, which influenced her extensive body of work. Shelley died in 1851 at the age of 53, leaving behind a lasting literary legacy.
