In the early 2010s, 17-year-old Yesenia Rivera, eager to escape her insecurities and fit in, adopts a new identity that allows her to pass as white at her school in the Pacific Northwest, but this pursuit of acceptance comes with unforeseen costs. Meanwhile, Guillermo Rivera, also navigating racial identity and economic struggles, finds himself increasingly entangled in a dangerous game as he attempts to assist Yesenia and forge a different path. As their lives intersect, the story explores the complexities and consequences of assimilation, race, and self-identity.
