Edgar Wallace, born on April 1, 1875, in Greenwich, London, experienced a diverse range of early jobs before being inspired to write by Rudyard Kipling in South Africa. After struggling to publish his first thriller, he established his own press and quickly gained fame with hits like Sanders of the River. Known as the "King of Thrillers," he became a prolific author, producing 170 novels and nearly 1,000 short stories by the end of his career. Despite his financial successes, Wallace faced personal challenges, ultimately passing away on February 7, 1932, in Beverly Hills due to health complications.
