The Bundle of Letters

Móric Jókay de Ásva, born in 1825 in Komárom, Hungary, was a prolific author and politician who transitioned from a career in law to become a celebrated novelist and editor. He supported Hungarian nationalism during the revolutionary upheavals of 1848 and contributed significantly to Hungarian literature in his numerous works, helping to revive the language’s cultural importance. Later, Jókay served in parliament, became a member of the upper house, and remained active in public life until his death in 1904.
