The White Maniac

A country doctor visits a grand, seemingly ordinary house owned by a Baron, only to be struck by an unsettling discovery: everything within and around the house is uniformly white, including its inhabitants' clothing. The eerie, bloodless atmosphere raises questions about the house's mysterious environment. Originally published in 1867, this story is one of Mary Fortune’s early works in crime fiction, notable for its unique perspective from the detective’s point of view.
