Set in a world where nutrition is transferred via a pill and society is divided into Eaters and Non-Eaters, 17-year-old Princess Vela faces a difficult choice when her father’s life depends on organ transplants from a Non-Eater boy. As Carr, the boy she has loved her whole life, becomes a top candidate in the Trials, Vela grapples with her feelings and her sense of morality after she takes desperate measures to keep him close.
