A Free State

Set in 1855, this gripping tale unfolds as Henry Sims, a fugitive slave and gifted musician, finds refuge in Philadelphia. He joins forces with a minstrel troupe leader facing stiff competition, and together they devise a plan to conceal Henry’s identity while revitalizing the ensemble's fortunes. However, their efforts are jeopardized by Tull Burton, a relentless slave hunter determined to reclaim Henry at any cost.
