In modern-day Los Angeles, Isobel, the queen of a medieval rave-themed VR game called Sparkle Dungeon, becomes embroiled in a conflict against a shadowy faction led by the governor, who is harnessing the power of combat linguistics to further a totalitarian agenda. As she learns the secrets of power morphemes, her skills make her a target for a resistance movement of spellcasting anarchists, who might be the key to preventing a catastrophic transformation that threatens the lives of millions. With time running out, Isobel must level up and choose her allegiances as dark forces from other dimensions converge on Earth.
