The Shawl

"The Shawl" and "Rosa," both award-winning stories first published in the 1980s, explore the profound and harrowing legacy of the Holocaust through the lens of Rosa Lublin, whose life is marked by unimaginable loss and survival. These stories, written with immediate intensity and complex emotional depth, revolve around a mysterious shawl that symbolizes both nourishment and destruction. Together, they offer a powerful meditation on memory, trauma, and resilience.
