Shine, Coconut Moon

Sixteen-year-old Sam, an Indian American girl, has largely stayed disconnected from her traditional family, focusing instead on her school, friends, and boyfriend. Her world begins to shift after a family reunion when her uncle, a Sikh, arrives and seeks to reconnect, prompting Sam to explore her heritage. As she learns more about her background, she also becomes aware of the dangers posed by misunderstanding and prejudice in a post-9/11 world.
