Ambrose Bierce, born in 1842 in Ohio, was a prolific writer and Civil War veteran whose early life was marked by hardship and a deep love for literature. He gained recognition for his short stories, poetry, and satirical works, including "The Devil’s Dictionary," and played a notable role in journalism and uncovering financial corruption. His life was intertwined with personal tragedies, and he disappeared mysteriously in 1913 after a farewell letter from the battlefield of Chihuahua.
