A Legacy of Bones

In A Legacy of Bones, a provocative murder mystery set on the remote Kaumaha Island, cultural expert Winnie Te Papa investigates a series of murders ignited by a stick of TNT. As she uncovers the island's dark history linked to a statue of Amyas Lathrop, tensions mount between the affluent elite and local villagers, revealing a tangled web of family ties, developers, scholars, and gangsters. Spanning dual timelines, Doug Burgess weaves an intricate narrative that explores the legacies of violence and madness while posing critical questions about power and legacy.
