A Place at the Table

In this engaging story, sixth graders Sara, a Pakistani American, and Elizabeth, a white Jewish girl, navigate their differences while taking a South Asian cooking class taught by Sara's mother. As they confront personal challenges—Sara's adjustment to a new school and Elizabeth's mother's struggle with depression—they gradually transform their initial discomfort into a budding friendship. Together, they embark on a culinary adventure, aiming to create a remarkable cross-cultural dish for a local food show, but must first learn to trust each other.
