In a turbulent era before the events of Imager, the continent of Lydar is divided among three nations: Bovaria, Telaryn, and Antiago. Quaeryt, a scholar and secret imager, is sent by his friend Bhayar, the ruler of Telaryn, to assess troop levels in the newly conquered Tilbor. However, as he embarks on his perilous journey, Quaeryt faces a series of threats including pirates, storms, and political intrigue, all while grappling with the realities of his hidden identity and the fate of his scholarly order.
