In the summer of 1964, amidst rising civil rights tensions in Tupelo, Mississippi, Paige Dunn faces personal challenges due to the effects of polio while striving to raise her daughter, Diana, with the help of her resilient caregiver, Peacie. As 14-year-old Diana navigates her adolescence, seeking independence and grappling with her responsibilities at home, she becomes increasingly aware of the stark differences between her life and those around her.
