In the summer of 1964, amidst the backdrop of Beatlemania and national mourning, 11-year-old Gus LeGarde faces his most challenging summer yet at his grandparents' lakeside camp in Maine. Alongside his best friends, Elsbeth and Siegfried, Gus embarks on a desperate search for a girl named Sharon who vanishes after a terrifying encounter in the woods. As they navigate personal dilemmas, including a secret friendship with an iconic figure and the looming loss of his mother, Gus finds himself entangled in a series of mysteries involving stolen relics and danger.
