Algernon Blackwood, born in 1869 in London, was a prolific author known for his fascination with the paranormal and supernatural, weaving these themes into a diverse range of works, including ghost stories, children’s tales, and novels. His early career took him across Europe and North America, where he engaged in various jobs that enriched his experiences and writings. Blackwood gained recognition for his supernatural tales, especially with the 1906 publication of "The Empty House & Other Ghost Stories," which marked the beginning of his rise to literary fame. Throughout his life, he penned numerous plays and stories, ultimately being honored as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to literature and wartime efforts, before passing away in 1951.
