True-crime writer Heather Kilbride travels to the quaint seacoast town of Inversgail, Scotland, to investigate a recent murder for her new book, but her focus shifts to a mysterious lawyer, William Clark. Her unconventional research methods raise eyebrows among locals, including Constable Hobbs and a group of amateur sleuths led by Janet Marsh. When a bizarre incident involving a dummy dressed as Heather leads to her real death near an ancient stone, the police delve into the connections between her, a rare miniature book, and Janet. As tensions rise, Janet and her team must uncover who else is involved and whether they are dealing with a cold-blooded killer.
