In Hazel's hometown, those who don’t conform are sent away, so when her parents enroll her in a distant boarding school, she expects the worst. Isolated and targeted by the school bully, Braxton, Hazel seeks refuge in the nearby woods, where a fateful encounter in a cave introduces her to a creature that challenges her understanding of survival and belonging.
