In the genre-bending YA mystery set in Calico Springs, a group of teenagers discovers a dead body while playing an app-based adventure game called Manifest Atlas. The game, which gives players random locations based on their intentions, leads Willie, a boy marked by a near-death experience, to unsettling revelations about his small town. As Willie tries to understand the game’s significance and Sarai seeks the truth about her stepfather's death, they confront deeper issues related to their community, including the lingering impact of racism and white supremacy. Together with Willie’s skeptical brother Bones, they navigate a summer filled with chilling mysteries and challenging truths.
