In 1851 Ireland, Ellen Kittrick survives the devastating potato famine while struggling to keep her family safe from eviction. Defying her family's wishes, she takes a job at an Englishman's manor to provide for her loved ones but faces challenges from an unemployed husband and a secretive brother-in-law.
