The Preacher's Promise

Set in 1866 Oberlin, Ohio, "The Preacher's Promise" follows Amanda Stewart, who, after her father's death, resolves to start a school for the formerly enslaved despite an indecent proposal from her father's business partner. She travels to Milford, Georgia, where she encounters resistance from Virgil Smithson, the mayor grappling with his own troubled past and a promise to his late partner. As they navigate their conflicting desires and secrets, Amanda and Virgil must unite to establish a new community and honor their commitments amidst the turbulent aftermath of the Civil War.
