Set 800 years after the legendary King Connavar's victory over the invading Stone army, the Rigante people now live under the oppressive rule of the Varlish, their culture nearly erased. The Wyrd of Wishing Tree Wood, the last keeper of ancient ways, foresees a great evil approaching and places her hopes on two contrasting figures: Jaim Grymauch, a guilt-ridden giant warrior, and Kaelin Ring, a talented youth destined for conflict.
